How Do I Get Rid of Rice Smell?

After cooking rice, your kitchen may have a lingering odor, depending on the type of rice used. Additionally, if you accidentally burn the rice while cooking, it can produce an unpleasant smell. There are several methods to eliminate the unpleasant smell of rice.

  • It is not advisable to unplug or turn off your slow cooker after cooking rice as it can lead to bacterial growth due to the rice sitting at room temperature, which will spoil the rice.
  • To prevent bacterial growth, it is recommended to keep your rice on the “warm” setting of your slow cooker after cooking, which will maintain an internal temperature between 165°F and 200°F; however, it is important to check your slow cooker’s manual to ensure that its warm setting falls within this range.
    Inspect the ceramic insert of your slow cooker for any dents or scratches, as bacteria can accumulate in those areas and contaminate your rice. In case you discover any dents or scratches, it is recommended to either replace the inner ceramic insert or buy a new slow cooker to avoid ruining your rice.
